School: A Love and Hate Relationship

I go to American International School in Al Qusais. My school is very disorganized, which I don’t mind, and not very strict. Yeah, I do miss school, I mean who wouldn’t? I’m going to Grade 11 which is a big deal for me, so I can’t wait to start the school year and see how it turns out.

My favorite subject is Biology, but I am not that excited to go to that class because my teacher moved to New York to complete his double masters in Columbia, which is amazing because Columbia is an Ivy League university, I am happy for him but also sad since he won’t be teaching me anymore. As for the other subjects I’m neutral, I’m not extremely thrilled but that doesn’t mean I’m not looking forward to it.

Daily Prompt: Fifteen Credits

My Unachievable Dream

What if you have a dream that you can never achieve? What can you do about it? That’s something I want to know, because I have a dream that I think I can never achieve. I feel bad about it, like there is nothing I can do to be able to achieve my dream.

I want to be a singer, that’s my dream. The thing is I have a problem with catching the tune of a song, I have a good voice I guess but it takes a while for me to get the tune of a song right, which then makes it seem like I suck at singing.

I watch those shows were people become singers (ex: X Factor) and I feel happy for them but at the same time I feel jealous. This may sound stupid but sometimes I even cry, thinking why is this my dream but I can’t sing.

I just want to sing.

The Future

The future is very confusing for teenagers, they have a lot of choices to make. There are a few teenagers that have it all figured out, but there are a lot who don’t, like me.

When we were kids we would be asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and most of us would say Princess, Ninja, Superhero, Doctor, etc. But what we didn’t know back then was how hard it was actually going to be to decide what we wanted to do because this decision can either make us a success or a failure.

With that in mind we decide to go for something that will make us rich, but sometimes that’s not what we want, therefore we are not happy in life. Some people take up Business in college because that is a 4 year course and they just want to get out of school. But that’s not how it’s supposed to be, we should do what makes us happy whether or not it will make us rich or get us out of school as soon as possible.

What if money was no object?

For me right now my interest is in Biology, so I might take that in college, but I’m not sure what job I can get with that because I do not want to be a teacher.

What I’m trying to say is that don’t pressure yourself with the future, just do what you love and be happy with your life because like what Mr. Alan Watts said it is better to live a short life and do what you love rather than live a long life and not do what you love.

Introduction

I’m a 16 year old girl named Priyanka, living in Dubai, U.A.E, who’s half Indian and half Filipino. I speak two languages: English and Tagalog. But, I do know very little Arabic and French. I have two siblings: one older sister and one twin brother (yes I do have a twin). I have a lot on my mind and would love to share all my thoughts, ideas, and opinions somewhere and I think I’ve found the right place. I attend high school and I am about to start Grade11 on September. I love reading novels and I actually wanna have a go at writing, that’s part the reason why I created a blog. I hope to write well enough to gain readers on this blog. That’s all I have to say for now. Goodbye.
